So today was our first contact with the school, the kids were all there for China Culture Day. After many talks and all in chinese which takes three times as long as in english and sitting out in the cold the concert started, it was fantastic it was performed by kids from the various districts on the mainland, it was really great, but I must say even the locals were freezing. Didn't make me feel any warmer but at least made me feel better!!
The Principal then hired a bust and took all the teachers, 5 priests, and us to a lovely restaurant in the posh part of town. the food was delicous and I'm glad we won't be going there too often. (calories galore)
The principal from Notre Dame (Stephen Wong) then took us home by taxi and dropped us at the door. I am so fully I'm sorry I said we'd go to the presbytery for tea, its a meal I could easily do without.
I think Tony is going out with Fr Slavic to feed the homeless tonight but I think I'll wait until the weather warms a bit.
