What's going on here, two days ago we sizzled, yesterday was cool and today it,s poitively cold, it got down to 15degs last night ugh!!
Today we decided to do the tour of the mine, so we got Connor and Tara up early and took them to Mass, and then check out the tour, only to find out it wasn't on till 1pm today, no problem though we went to Breakie at Verona's restaurant, very yummy and nice.
So come on 1pm and do our tour, and tonight we are going to have a girls pamper night and as I'm the guest it's full on the lot, Oh my goodness I can feel the love already.

Mt Isa Stilllllllllll

It's so hot here how could you live here for years and years, that is probably why everyone seems a little crazy,
Highlights today, Mass at 8am
Coffee at Gloria Jeans (thank God for Gloria)
Then  we went shopping for Connors 18th bday, which is not until October but as I wont be here then we will have an early celebration tonight. Pizza and Moscato.
I think he is gonna love his Nana tonight

No photos today just a thought for today I'm loving looking for quotes and little poems

Fountain Springs Mt Isa

Anne and I went to Mass and then Tara Anne and I went to Ziggies for coffee and from there we went to Fountain Springs, about 60kms on bitumen and then 27and a half on dirt road, Tara drove on the dirt track, this was her first time behind the wheel, she was pretty good really, once she got the hang of which side of the road she wanted to be, fortunately we were the only car on the road. Fountain Springs is nature at its best its so quiet and tranquil it was beautiful. we went climbing rocks and me being so unco slipped down, but it was such fun. We had lunch there and then we drove out towards Katherine but as we were not sure how far to go we decided to turn back, we will google it tonight and see how far away it is. The weather is really hotting up here and the flies are terrible. We got back home about 4pm and Anne put on a lamb roast dinner, smells soooooooo good! Went on verandah and had a glass of Moscato, but we soon came in as the flies and ants are driving us mad.

Mt Isa on Saturday and Sunday

Today Anne and I go grocery shopping big woopee doobee do! but first we went to the Buffs club for coffee, I swear everyone and everything is done in slow motion. We did our shopping and organised a barbie for tonight. I met James (Connors best friend) who came over for tea, and then we introduced him to Rickety, really riviting stuff eh!

Sunday we went to Mass at 7.30am  and then to breakie at the Buff club, not buffet style but a huge plate of bacon eggs, tomato and toast.
We then drove around the Isa and Anne showed me where Dan had his house, it seems to have become rund down and I think Dan would be shocked to see how unkept the garden and surrounds have become.
After lunch Anne and I watched two very old movies, The Ghost and Mrs Muir and then How green was my valley it is such a lovely movie, and Roddy McDowell looks a little like Tiernan.  Looks like a night of tele and maybe a drink or two and nibblies.

Mount Isa gateway to the wilderness

I'm told that is what Mt Isa is but its more dust and dust and nothingness. Today is a rest day, nothing much on so we went for morning tea at the Coffee shop and sat in the air/con for a while, from there to the one decent shop ie Kmart and did a little shoopping. From there we went to Connors work and met his boss who is quite a nice bloke from South Africa, he invited us to dinner tonight, from there home to lunch and a few games of Rickety as Connor and Tara are now experts at it.(of course they are teenagers, they know everything) did a bit of spreading of our precious cargo which we got at Lake Moondarra, had one Moncato only and then to dinner at the Verona restaurant, it was a lovely meal and I think they thought we were all miners coz the meal was huge, one course did us.Being in Qld we were home by 8pm and then some more cards.

Lake Moondara

From the Lookout at Lake Moondarra

Peacock at the Lake

From the Lookout before we entered the Wilderness

Today we finished our garden beds and planted flowers and herbs, not sure if they will grow because neither of us are what you would call garden guru's
Then we drove out to Moondarra Lake, which is massive and supplies Mt Isa's with water, we went on a wilderness walk and found some (either horse or cow manure I don't know the difference) and as we had a tarp in the boot I decided to collect some, much to Connor and Tara's horrified gasps, but in all fairness Connor did help, Anne and I thought it was so funny collecting animal manure out in the wilderness.
Mt Isa is not a pretty place by any stretch of the imagination at all.
When we came back we had lunch and played Rickety Kate and I don't think Connor got into the spirit of the game, but we had a great laugh, soon the sun will go down and it will once again be MOSCATO time. I will add some photos onto this when I return to Brissie coz I lost my camera charger.

Mt Isa still

Garden Guru

Before

After

Today we really made headway in the garden I can't believe how many weeds there were, and I'm sure they were increasing even as we were taking them out, however it's starting to look good with fertilising blood and bone and mulch we have now started to plant, and neither Anne or I know much about gardening its really pot luck if they grow.
Today we went to the Irish club and the person at the bottle shop had the strangest colour hair I've ever seen (it was aqua)
After our work we sat and had a couple of Moscato's! well maybe it was three!!
Today we taught Tara and Connor how to play Rickety Kate and now they are adicted to it.

Holiday in Mt Isa

Today I'm flying to Mt Isa to see Anne,Connor, and Tara. I arrived here at 5.30pm and Anne picked my up we went to dinner at the Overlander pub, usual fare but very nice we came back and Connor got home from work and we played a few games of bridge, calling this bridge is probably more fun fun, we had lots and lots of laughs and eventually went to bed around half eleven, I didn't sleep much as a rooster next door woke us up at 4am.
Sat am we went to the drop in centre and prepared food for the homeless, then we went shopping and Anne bought a new Tele, so as we could watch the Bronco's game. It was sensational as it went into overtime and they won by Locky kicking a field goal.
Sunday we went to Mass at 7.30 and then home and Anne cooked us a huge breakie of bacon and eggs and hash browns and we all ate sooo much, then we played some more bridge and laughed a lot. In the afternoon we started on her garden and planted some seeds there.
Monday
We were up early and started on another garden bed and dug it up Connor came to the resue and finished digging for us we will have it ready for planting tomorrow.

Just a small sampling of what Anne's garden beds look like!!

Monday 12th Sept

Martin and Henry much younger Henry her
Well well oh well, what more can I say about last week, certainly not boring,
Helped Deidre to move into new place and it is quite a nice place, the removalist did all the heavy stuff and she managed to get all of her stuff from here on the Saturday so we got back to normal fairly quickly. I went and had coffee with Siobhan on Saturday after leaving Deids and she was so much more relaxed with the whole saga behind her.
Monday I heard from M.A.M.I re going overseas, so horray we will be going to Hong Kong for 4months from Feb 2012 please god, Iam so excited about it, so god willing that will be our agenda for most of next year, the family are all very happy for us as well. So our next focus is to find someone suitable to rent our place for the 4 or 5 months while we are away,
I rang Marian and explained that we wouldn't be going to the wedding and she seemed ok about that, but I had a ring from Katherine yesterday and I know the vibes were cool, as sister Anne is coming over for this one and its the first time we would all be together in over sooo many years. I'm am disappointed about missing Anne as she put herself out for us at all when we were over there.

Went and baby sat for Martin and Georgie on Sat night and then we all went to Mass at Indooroopilly on Sunday (ie except Georgie) we had Ben's two kids with us, Hayley was very receptive but Nicholas has a very short concentration span  but as it was their first time at church he was quite good. Sue is going to undertake taking those two on a regular basis. Henry on the otherhand thinks where-ever he goes with granda he should spend a penny at least twice during the outing.
all for now

Friday 2nd September

Flowers from Tony to cheer me up

What a week we've had this one, so now Deidre and Tj are with us and some of their stuff, she has got a house but will not have power until either Monday or Tuesday. Yesterday I went to her place and helped her pack her gear into boxes and I'm sure when I had nine kids living here I didn't own as much stuff. I think she has three blenders countless baking trays and as for frying pans I counted at least 4or5 of them, mama mia! so much stuff.
Today I feel like a steam-roller has gone over me not used to hard work anymore but I'm sure I'll survive.
I went to mass this am and Fr Donal gave a little sermon on selfishness unforgiving and peace, so when I came home I rang Siobhan and spoke to her she was so much brighter today and almost cheerful, so please god at some time in the future the two of them can at least be civil to each other.
Martin was a good mediator so I thank god for him
so tonights menu is BBQ followed by ice-cream and berries
